K. Sydney Smith

Paralegal & Research Associate

Sydney joined the Law Office of Alexandru Juncu, LLC in 2019 and supports the team in a paralegal capacity. She enjoys technical reading, identifying discrepancies, and helping our clients to become more organized. 

A journalist by trade, Sydney has 15 years’ experience in reporting, research, fact checking, copy editing and interviewing.  The same skills apply in her role at Juncu Legal where she conducts deep-dive research and participates in business contract reviews and meetings. 

An avid reader and explorer, Sydney has traveled to 46 countries and visited 5 continents. Highlights include boating through Inle Lake, Myanmar; exploring Chile's Atacama Desert; observing the 9/11 pre-trial hearings at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; attending Easter Mass with Pope Francis in Rome, Italy; training journalists in Bosnia; and hiking in Thorsmork, Iceland. 

Sydney is a graduate of the University of South Carolina's School of Journalism and Mass Communications, and attended University College Dublin, Ireland as a visiting student. 

In addition to legal services, Sydney enjoys serving the not-for-profit sector, providing content strategy and creation, social media management, research, and thought leadership. She is an expert in media ethics and has helped manage a $900,000 PPE (personal protective equipment) operation for a NYC not-for-profit during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
